Dear Friends,
Congratulations were ringing in my ears Wednesday morning, following the election. Thank you to all of our supporters and volunteers. The Independent Candidates did not run a party-organized campaign. We were campaigning against a sitting party that had a pre-existing organization and funding. It was an interesting, up-hill campaign from beginning to end, but we stood on strong issues that touched the grass roots of our community. This victory was founded on friends speaking to friends about the direction of our community.
I want to especially thank Bill Cannon, Toni Carter, and Ken Griesemer who stepped forward to give of their time and resources to take a stand on issues and work toward a Brighter Vision for Hanover Park. Congratulations to Trustee-Elect Carter on her victory. I look forward to working with her on the Village Board. While Bill and Ken came up just short at the polls, I know that they will continue to be advocates for our hometown and the issues we addressed. I have been honored to be apart of such a great team of people.
I am very proud to be a resident of Hanover Park. It is my interest to see that our government functions to meet the people’s needs. The first step in meeting these needs is bringing people together to express these needs and seek out new ideas. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work with all of the residents of Hanover Park.
As is often the case, change and growth will take time and patience. We have expressed a list of important issues during this campaign, and it is now the obligation of the Village Board to address these issues. I look forward to working with the two members of our opposing slate who were re-elected last night and the three sitting Trustees on these issues. Clearly, we have exciting times ahead of us.
Thank you,
Rod Craig
Village President-Elect
