Press Release: Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance

PRESS RELEASE:

Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance: Smart Energy Choices for Hanover Park as we seek to develop sustainable energy by developing windfarms downstate.

Village President, Rodney Craig is pleased to announce a new initiative that brings together School Districts, College Districts, and the Municipality for the betterment of our village. We have continued to seek solutions to save taxes and act as stewards to the environment. We have been working to bring together key individuals who can work to address our energy needs. I am proud to announce the Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance organized by the Hanover Park Mayor's Office and that may include Keeneyville School District 20, Lake Park District 108, District U46, District 54, District 93, and Harper College District. All of these districts touch Hanover Park or Hanover Park residents pay taxes to these districts.

“Currently, legislation is being drafted to benefit the Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance,” State Rep. Fred Crespo (D- Hoffman Estates) said. “I am working closely with Mayor Craig, school districts, and community leaders towards facilitating this very important and beneficial initiative.”

The Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance has great interest in previous Wind Turbine Generator legislation, which is supported by Rep. Fred Crespo that allows school districts and municipalities to work together to create windfarms. These windfarms would be organized and supported by partnering districts, but built outside of the suburban area.
  • Tax savings for our Citizens
  • More school districts and municipalities to share the financial burdens for building the wind farm
  • Locate the windfarms in rural areas, but still benefit from clean energy
  • ALL of Hanover Park will benefit, not just individuals in the Keeneyville School District
  • The Village of Hanover Park could potentially gain a direct benefit by supporting this initiative
  • Responsible environmental stewardship
  • Leadership in our region that other communities can model
According to a statement from Congressman Peter Roskam’s office, Congressman Roskam is pursuing the reauthorization of Clean Renewable Energy Bonds (CREBs) to facilitate the financing of construction for initiatives like the Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance. He helped introduce as an original cosponsor, HR 5984, the Clean Energy Tax Stimulus Act of 2008, which includes a reauthorized extension of the CREBs. The House has yet to consider HR 5984, but Congressman Roskam is joining with other members in pressing the House leadership to bring the bipartisan, commonsense provisions of HR 5984 to the House floor for a vote.

The Hanover Park Wind Turbine Alliance represents the approach to government that the citizens of Hanover Park deserve. Along with our school district leaders and our Hanover Park legislators in Springfield, (Senator Millner, Senator Noland, and Representative Ramey) we have worked to find a solution to this issue. When others have challenged the benefits of the wind turbine and blocked its progress, we have moved forward to create a workable answer and expand the benefits to all of Hanover Park.

Please contact us with any questions. We will keep you posted on the progress of this legislation and the work of the Alliance.

Herald Article About This Blog!

Today's Herald had this article, Suburban Mayors Join the Blogosphere, about mayors who use blogs to communicate to residents. This blog has been a very valuable tool is reaching to the people in our community. We live in such a fast paced world, where almost everyone (but, not not quite everyone) can access the Web. I feel that this blog is a nice information source that compliments Village mailings, such as the Hi-Lighter, and traditional media sources, such as the Daily Herald. We have so many wonderful activities going on in our community that do not reach our citizens in our Newspapers or from our Village mailings, so I work to include as much information as I can on this blog.

Light a Luminaria at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Bartlett/Hanover Park/Streamwood

-------------
Light a Luminaria at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Bartlett/Hanover Park/Streamwood

It's one of the most inspirational moments at Relay For Life. When the sun goes down, hundreds of luminaria light the way under the stars to remember those lost to cancer, those fighting cancer and those who have fought cancer and won. This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to fight.

What are luminarias?

Luminaria are those glowing bags, that to the naked eye appear to be nothing more than paper sacks filled with sand and candles. But upon closer examination these sacks represent people, each with a name and a story to tell. Each glowing bag represents our shared vision for a future in which cancer no longer threatens the people we love.

Please click on the link below to order luminaria for your loved ones and friends who have been touched cancer. You can make a tribute to honor a cancer survivor or to remember someone who has lost the battle. Your loved one's name will appear on a luminaria, the luminaria will be lit during the luminaria ceremony and your loved one's name will be read aloud for all in attendance to hear.

Press Release-Memorial Park Dedication

Press release from the Village of Hanover Park:

--------------
HANOVER PARK – MEMORIAL PARK DEDICATION
IN MEMORY OF VILLAGE PRESIDENTS SONYA CRAWSHAW AND IRWIN BOCK

On Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 2:00 PM, the Mallard Lake Bike Trail Memorial Park located at the southeast corner of Greenbrook Boulevard and Arlington Drive will be dedicated in memory of former Village Presidents Sonya A. Crawshaw and Irwin A. Bock.

The establishment of Memorial Park was a collaborative effort between the DuPage County Forest Preserve District, IDI International, Inc., Walsh Landscape Construction, Inc., the Hanover Park Public Works Department, Boy Scout Troop No. 191, and the Eagle Scout service project of Matthew Masciola. Through the efforts of many, the park evolved into a beautiful tribute to two prior Village Presidents who dedicated many years of service to the Village. Their vision of Hanover Park was instrumental in the Village development that occurred over the years.

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County owns the land parcel and approved the plan for Memorial Park. IDI International, Inc. donated 14 trees – 4 Autumn Blaze Maples, 6 Glenleven Lindens, and 4 Austrian Pine Trees. Walsh Landscape Construction, Inc. assisted with site layout and planted the 14 trees and also 5 Sargent Crab Trees. The Hanover Park Public Works Department assisted with the site plan, the preparation of the brick paver path and concrete pads, installed two benches, a flag pole, and a light for the flag pole. Matthew Masciola, as part of his Eagle Scout service project, coordinated the Boy Scouts and adult leaders of Boy Scout Troop No. 191 to prepare 3 planting beds with 10 tons of sand and 12 cubic yards of mushroom compost, planted 186 Stella D’Oro daylilies, 124 Black Eyed Susans, 26 Autumn Jazz Arrowwood Viburnum bushes, spread 9 cubic yards of mulch in the planting beds and installed a brick paver path leading to the flag pole and benches.

The public is welcome to attend the dedication ceremony event. Contact Mark Masciola at 630/372-4212 for further information.
