Thank you and Now is the time for action

My Friends,

This election has been a long journey. It was about the people of Hanover Park, and our need for a new direction for local government. The voters spoke clearly. They want to see a new attitude in our leaders and local government in general. They want leaders who are more responsive to the residents and who ask for resident input as policy is developed. To all of you who took a stand for Progress and said that the status quo is not good enough, we say thank you. Each of the Progress candidates and volunteers worked endless hours on this campaign in a mutual effort to assure that we will have a collaborative leadership team come together.

On May 7th at 7:00 p.m., the new Village Board will be sworn-in in the Board Room at Village Hall.

To all of you who have contacted me with concerns, I thank you. I am still working to reply to some of you. I am working to get all caught up. To all of you whom I met along the campaign trail, I thank you for your support, and I encourage you to continue to be involved. I’m still finding and organizing the notes I left myself during the campaign. It is my goal to address the needs that you expressed.

As of May 7th, the focus of our government will now be on service to the people of Hanover Park. The new officials have received their budget document, and they are reviewing it now. We believe there is room to bring on additional police officers immediately.

In April, I will be traveling to Springfield to meet with our legislators to ensure the needs of Hanover Park are not lost in the shuffle. We must ensure that Hanover Park has everything in order to participate in the stimulus program. Additionally, I have been in touch with our local colleges, and I’m actively seeking job initiatives for residents.

Many of these initiatives and important changes in our government will take time. However, now is the time for action. We have a new Board with new energy. We are willing to take on the leadership responsibilities and answer the call to action.

Thank you for your support and your trust. We will not let you down.
